2nd YiM Newsletter 2009

Dear attendee of the 3rd Youth in Mission Congress in Mannheim,

we have some important information for you. Please read the following very carefully so you know what's happening at the Congress this year! We're looking forward to seeing you again or meeting you for the first time.

  • Community Service Projects

Just like last year, you will once again have the opportunity to participate in community service projects, as the theme of this year's congress will be "Follow the Bible". And the Bible motivates and encourages us to love and serve our neighbors. So will you be a part of these projects?

You have the chance to participate in the following projects. If you are interested in one of them, just click on this link: http://www.yimc.de/YiM---Sozialprojekte-2009_1259.html

Project 1: Music program in an old people's home

Project 2: Park clean up (Herzogenriedpark)

Project 3: Park clean up (Luisenpark)

Project 4: Afternoon program for children in a hospital ward

Project 5: Program in a kindergarten

Project 6: Afternoon program in a daycare for homeless women
Project 7: Preparing and handing out presents to homeless people

  • Registration and Advertising

We're very excited that so many people have already registered for this year's congress. If you're planning to come to the 3rd Youth in Mission (it's worth it! ) and haven't registered yet: don't hesitate any longer! That way you will help us plan and organize everything as soon as possible. By the way: have you seen the new trailer yet? And how about your church? If you'd like to tell them about YiM, just go to www.yimc.de, click on "English" in the upper right-hand corner and you're ready to download the new trailer!

  • Volunteers (DON'T SKIP!!! )

Without volunteers, we would not have any food and the bathrooms would not smell very nice, nor meet hygienic standards. We could add to the list, but we think you get the point!

It is sometimes said that you don't have to go to a foreign land to do missions. Sometimes you don't even need to take part in a community service project. Sometimes all you need to do to be a missionary is to take a cleaning rag into your hands and use it at a youth congress.

We would like to thank those of you who have already registered as volunteers and encourage those who could still help us out.

We still need:

  • Lots of helping hands in the sanitation areas. More hands get the job done faster and that makes it more pleasant for everyone.

  • Help with the assembling and disassembling of all the facilities. So if you can come earlier or stay longer, we would appreciate if you could mention that when you register and then help us out. We need you!

  • FEMALE security volunteers older than 18!

  • More people for giving out the food.

So if you feel "called" to help us out in one of these areas, we would be glad to welcome you on the volunteer team! As a thank you, you will receive a Youth in Mission T-Shirt (limited edition) and enjoy some other advantages!

  • Baptism at the YiM

There will be a baptism at the YiM again, just like last year (Sunday night). If you want to be baptized at this year's YiM, please contact Johannes Waniek as soon as possible: taufe (at) youthinmission.info

We're all looking forward to sharing this highlight with you!

May God bless you on this day!

May he guide you,

The Youth in Mission Team
